Commercial Description: “A soft reddish brown ale with a nutty/malty palette,
background sweetness and a smooth finish”. A smooth tasting cask conditioned premium ale. It has a fuller sweeter taste than traditional ales with more character in the flavor than the aroma. There is background sweetness combined with nutty malty flavors to give a fuller bodied, yet easy drinking premium ale.
The story is that Tanner's Jack was named after the old Tanner’s drinking vessels, which were known as Jacks. They were in common use from medieval times through to the 19th century. Leather was used because it was more readily available than pewter, decidedly less costly than glass, and did not break like pottery. Leather was also favored because of its strength along with its light weight. This is another of the singles run from

Ok I have looked this one up and it has got some bad reviews. All of the beers that I review I buy before I look anything up on them, and usually when I start to review I look up the history or just check out the beer manufacture's site. With this one I made the mistake of looking at some of the other rating sites. This is not fair to the beer because I feel that it will have some effect on my review. I have already picked this one so I am going to try to be fair.
It pours a nice clear copper, really a nice looking beer. It has a thin white head even when I poured it rough, after a couple of minutes the head is all but gone. The smell is very malty with some sweetness to it as described in the commercial description, smell like regular ol beer, nothing special. I would not describe the taste as nutty, I will give it malty and corny but not nutty. The mouthfeel is thin, but refreshing and lightly carbonated It doesn't have any hops in the finish, its mostly just sweet malts. Tastes more like a lager than an ale.

Pack rating (enjoyability): I probably won't buy this one again. I guess the other guys were right about this one. I would drink it if it was free over most of the macro brews.
