Kona-pipeline-porter Price                                    1.89 per 12 ounce bottle ABV                                      5.4% IBU                                       30 Plato                                     13.5 Seasonal                                Yes September to March Commercial Description: "Pipeline Porter is smooth and dark with a distinctive roasty aroma and earthy complexity from its diverse blends of premium malted barley. This celebration of malt unites with freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee grown at Cornwell Estate on Hawaii’s Big Island, lending a unique roasted aroma and flavor. A delicate blend of hops rounds out this palate-pleasing brew." This is another of the singles run from Total Wine and More in Greenville South Carolina. I was really looking forward to this beer after seeing a review of it on youtube from Joe. Here is the link- [Joe's Pipeline Porter Video Review]  It pours almost black, hardly any light passes through this beer at all. The head kinda thin for a porter and is light brown in color. It smells of earthy notes and coffee. You can definitely pick up the maltyness and some hops are present in the smell but it is mostly the smell of a good roasty coffee. It has a great appearance and is inviting. As good as it is, the smell doesn't do the taste justice. The first pull is full of hearty coffee favors with a ton of sweet malts and a dash of hops, incredible. I wish I had bought 12 of these. Its not real complex in flavors, each one is discernable from the other, but it all mixes very well. The finish is PERFECT. It has the smoothest finish I have had with a porter. It's not heavy at all and is slightly creamy. Kona got this one right!   Damn, Its gone. Its not your normal porter and my ratings will reflect it against the style as a whole. If I were rating it individually and not against the style it would be 95 out of 100. the rating smell (1-10)                                             7 taste (1-50)                                           35 finish (1-10)                                            9 bang for the buck (1-30)                         20 Total                                                   71 out of 100 Pack rating (enjoyability): I will give these a case (24) rating. I could drink these with breakfast.  they are extremely enjoyable (drinkable).
